The Horticulture Business Platform (HBP) brought together businesses and stakeholders from across Ghana’s horticulture sector on Wednesday, 16th September 2026, for a Digital Marketplace Onboarding Workshop designed to introduce members to the HBP Marketplace and equip them with the practical skills to establish their business presence and begin using the platform.
The workshop formed part of HBP’s efforts to support the adoption of the Marketplace as a practical business tool for the horticulture sector. Participants explored how the platform can help businesses establish their digital presence, showcase their offerings, and discover potential business connections across the horticulture value chain.
In her welcome remarks, Madam Catherine Krobo Edusei, HBP Board Chair, emphasized the importance of strengthening connections within the horticulture business community. She also charged sector players to see the success of the Marketplace as a shared responsibility, encouraging businesses to take advantage of the platform and actively contribute to making it work.
Partner remarks were also delivered by Hilda Abambire of IDH and Francis Obirikorang of AgroCenta. Hilda encouraged participants to serve as ambassadors of the Marketplace by spreading the word, encouraging wider participation, and helping make the platform a useful tool for businesses across the sector.
From an Identified Need to a Digital Marketplace
Benjamin Agamah, HBP Project Manager, took participants through the journey behind the development of the HBP Marketplace, providing context on how engagement with actors across the horticulture value chain informed the platform’s development.
The discussion highlighted the need for a more structured and accessible space where businesses across the sector can present their offerings, discover one another, and explore potential business relationships.
The HBP Marketplace responds by providing a dedicated digital space where businesses can improve their visibility and make their products and services more accessible to potential customers, suppliers, and partners beyond their existing networks.
A live demonstration then introduced participants to the Marketplace’s key functions, including how to establish a business presence and navigate the platform.
Putting the Marketplace into Practice
The workshop then moved from introduction to practical onboarding. Led by Michael Teye, the session guided participants through the process of establishing their businesses on the platform.
With hands-on support, participants worked through account setup, business profile development, product and service listings, and navigating business connections on the Marketplace.
The practical format allowed members to work directly on their profiles while asking questions and receiving guidance throughout the session. This helped participants understand not only how to use the platform, but also how to present their businesses and offerings clearly to potential buyers and partners.
The session also provided an opportunity for participants to share feedback, recommendations, and questions based on their experience. These inputs will help inform the continued improvement of the platform as adoption grows.
Join the HBP Marketplace
The onboarding workshop marks a step in moving the HBP Marketplace from launch towards active use across Ghana’s horticulture sector. However, the value of the platform will ultimately depend on the businesses that use it and the connections they create through it.
Horticulture businesses are therefore encouraged to join the HBP Marketplace, complete their business profiles, showcase their products and services, and begin exploring potential business connections across the value chain.
Whether you are a producer looking for buyers, an input supplier seeking new customers, a service provider looking to reach more businesses, or a buyer searching for suppliers, the Marketplace provides an additional avenue to connect with businesses within Ghana’s horticulture ecosystem.
